Post subject: Getting your Phantom Dust game save to your Xbox 360 |
|
|
AzelEdge has already done this and let me know that the Xport was on sale at BestBuy. I went down there today and got it for $20.00 (plus tax), it was listed at $29.99. Anyway, the Xport is a docing station for your 360 hard drive. Meaning you remove the removable HDD from your 360 and snap it into the Xport. The Xport connects to your PC via USB and allows you to copy data to and from your 360's hard drive.
The hardest part really would be to get your save off of your Xbox, because you need to modify it to do so. Phantom Dust does not allow you to copy your game save to a memory card, unlike most Xbox games. The easy way? Use one of the game saves already available, like the Pantera save. (located on this page)
I am going to do this now and I'll post screen caps and additional details. All in all, not too bad a price if you don't want to go through single player again and you want the Xbox Live rare skills. You can also use it for other backward compatible game saves and possibly more.
**UPDATE**
The device is pretty cool, it even comes with everything you need to copy and move data around from Xbox 360 memory cards, the Xbox 360 hard drive, and Xbox 1 memory cards. If you have other game saves on an original Xbox memory card that you'd like to move to your 360's hard drive this can do it. You can also use the game saves found on the internet at places like codejunkies.
First thing I did after installing the software from their CD and connecting the unit to my PC was to back up my 360's hard drive. Their manual was suprisingly good and very easy for me to understand. They even have a section specific to moving Xbox 1 saves from your PC (Pantera) to the 360.
Next I located the directory for the Phantom Dust saves/profiles. It is found in Partition 3 - Compatibility\Xbox1\UDATA\4d530046. I noticed there was already a profile listed under another directory name like 163628EA26193 (or whatever). All I had to do was unzip the Phantom Dust Pantera file to my desktop and noticed its file structure was identical. UDATA\4d530046\ only its save profile directory name was 16C019D05AED. I just dragged and dropped the 16C019D05AED folder to the Compatibility\Xbox1\UDATA\4d530046 directory on the 360, slapped the HDD back on the 360, booted up Phantom Dust and I saw Pantera as a profile option. Bam, everything unlocked with all the Xbox Live rares included. Took all of 30 seconds. It was quite easy. If you have any questions let me know. _________________

Yeppers. It is a bit tricky to get the Pantera save on to the right location of the 360 HDD, but I'll post those details soon.
You already beat single player on the 360? Dang you are fast. If so then you probably don't need this thing. |

well the $20 almost seems worth it, since i have 6k wins worth of online skills that im leaving behind, and it would be weird to be missing all those skills.
i can say im considering it. _________________

i don't see it on bestbuy's website . I don't really need it anyway. I already had the pantera save on my modded xbox and change a value in the save file so i can copy it to a memery card. All I have to do now is get a regular xbox and get on live and transfer the skill to somebody and have them transfer it back to me on live. _________________

I don't think the software that comes with the Xport is written for MAC. The Xploder360 software can also be used, but I don't see it for MAC either.

It isn't on their website. Just call them and ask if they have one is stock? My Bestbuy had 3 of them. Where all the 360 accessories are. _________________

Hi Corpus,
Are you playing Phantom Dust on your 360? If so, the above mentioned device will help you move a game save file, found on the Internet that has everything unlocked and multiples of each rare skill, to your 360's hard drive. Allowing you to use this game save while playing Phantom Dust on your 360.
If you are playing Phantom Dust on the original Xbox this device also comes with a dongle that you can use to put the save file on your original Xbox memory card and move it to your original Xbox hard drive. However, there are other devices available to do this and they may be less expensive than this combo-device that is designed for the 360.
To get your actual game save off your original Xbox hard drive you would have to "mod" it, even though there is a software method and way to revert back it is not something I could recommend to someone new to this stuff. You're far better off just using the save found on the Internet and linked to in my original post.
Hope that helps _________________

| I understand. I would rather have the self satisfaction of gaining those skills myself, but It doesn't mean much of anything anymore if everyone has access to every skill etc. But If everyone has every skill now, pride might only hinder my playing abilities. I will have to check this out and perhaps tomorrow I will pick up the device. |

Early in the game's life I was concerned about this, but over two years later and it just doesn't mean as much. So many people "duped" using the Ante game glitch and then all the action replay saves came out. I can understand not wanting to go trough single player again. I myself already did that three times and wanted to hop right back online. I have read a number of posts elsewhere where people said they didn't think they could get back into this game if they had to play through single player again even thought they'd love to play it online. Hopefully this will show that person there is a fairly inexpensive way to do this.
It wasn't even all the rares that I wanted. I wanted all the maps, characters, arsenal cases, and the other 300 skills unlocked. In the end it's the Esper and not the skill's rareness that really decides things. _________________
